Babel and Heitinga’s Derby - Music Battle

Saturday is a big football day in Liverpool, since Everton FC is visiting Liverpool FC in The Merseyside Derby. This match is the mother of all Derbies, and is the longest currently running top flight derby in England, having been at that level since 1962.
According to Wikipedia the Merseyside Derby is referred to as “The Friendly Derby” because of the large number of families who have both Reds and Blues supporters in them. It is one of the few local derbies that does not enforce fan segregation. With so many families and friends supporting both clubs, it is not uncommon to see Evertonians and Liverpudlians sitting together during the derby. At Fobazo we are lucky to have both a Liverpool and an Everton player, and they are both Dutch Internationals, and they are good friends and they both enjoy music. Ryan Babel is a active musician and has his own studio and the latest project he is working on, is a song for Haiti with numerous Dutch artists. John Heitinga loves music, and when he is not tarining you’ll often see him with his Ipod. Liverpool is of course known for more than football, as the music scene has always been vivid and productive with names like The Boo Radleys, Echo & the Bunnymen, Elvis Costello and a band called The Beatles that you may have heard of. So Fobazo will leave the football rivalery to the pitch, and in stead challenge Ryan Babel and John Heitinga in a Music Battle.
Who is your fav artist?
Ryan: Kanye West at the moment
John: Fav Artist: Maxwell (BLACK Summers' night)
Hmmm a tie here. 1-1
What’s the latest concert you attended?
John:
“I saw Justin Timberlake in concert in Holland, really great, but I don’t go to concerts that much. “
Ryan:
“The last concert was Beyonce . She is the best female artist. My all time concerts are: Michael Jackson in Amsterdam Arena back in 1998, Beyonce At Madison Square Garden New York 2009 and Jay Z in Amsterdam 2008, Best Rapper alive
First of all Ryan’s row of concerts is impressing, and Fobazo believes that Beyonce tackles better than Justin Timberlake. So one sure point for Ryan. 1-2 Liverpool.
What’s your top 5 on your Ipod?
John:
My Ipod joins me wherever I go, when I go to the club I plug it in the Gym. On the way to the games I always listen to my I-pod. So my Top 5 I-pod list is:
1: Maxwell (Pretty Wings)
2: 50 Cent ft Neyo (Have a baby by me)
3: Akon ft Micheal Jackson (Hold my hand)
4: Jamie Foxx ft Justin Timberlake (Winner)
5: Drake (Best I ever had)
Ryan:
I don't really have an top 5.. Cause I have different feelings everyday .. So different songs everyday.
Ahh Ryan – John wins by a landslide here. Everton – Liverpool 2-2
How do you use Music in everyday life and/or in sports?
Ryan
I use music to control some emotions or feelings depending on how I feel. Before games I listen to music to concentrate on the game. It works really good for me.
John
We listen to Music every day, if not through Ipod, then through TV (MTW/TMF). Music is really important to us, it adds good vibes at home.
Again it's a tie between these two cultural athletes, so the score ends 3-3. From our point of view this would also be a great result in the Derby Saturday. Good luck to both of you!
