Charity work
Suriprofs
The 'Suriprofs' are professional football players (‘-profs’) who were either born in the South American country of Suriname (‘Suri-‘) or who have at least one parent from there.
The Suriprofs join up every year after the regular football season to play a match for charity at Amsterdam’s Olympic Stadium. Traditionally, we play against the newly crowned champions of Holland’s Jupiler League (first division).
The proceeds from the matches go to charitable causes in Suriname. All projects financed by the Suriprofs are focused on children and young people. These vary from social projects and health clinics to sports development projects.
Every other year, a squad of Suriprofs heads for Suriname to visit the different projects, and to take part in a regular football tournament.
